Quick Start:

Add Your First Item: Tap the gold + button in the bottom right corner
Upload Photos: Take or select photos of your item (front, back, marks, damage, etc.)
Use AI Appraisal: Tap "Request AI Appraisal" to automatically identify and appraise your item
Review & Save: Check the AI's suggestions, make any edits, then save

Adding a New Item:

Tap the gold + button in the bottom right corner of the Home screen
Upload Photos:
- Tap "Add Photo" to take a new photo or select from your library
- Photo Categories (6 Types): Assign each photo to one of these categories:
  - 📷 Main Photo: Primary photo showing the full item (front view, best angle)
  - ⚠️ Damage/Wear: Close-ups of chips, cracks, scratches, wear, or flaws
  - 🏷️ Identifying Marks: Manufacturer marks, hallmarks, stamps, or backstamps
  - ✍️ Signature/Hallmark: Artist signatures, engraved names, or handwritten marks
  - 🔍 Detail/Close-up: Close-ups of patterns, textures, decorative elements, or craftsmanship
  - 📄 Documentation: Certificates of authenticity, receipts, appraisal papers, or provenance documents
- Recent Photos Section: The app shows your phone's 20 most recent photos at the bottom for quick access—just tap any photo to add it instantly!
- Upload up to 10 photos per item (highly recommended for accurate AI appraisal)
- Best Practices:
  - Take photos in bright, natural light (avoid harsh shadows)
  - Include at least one Main photo showing the entire item
  - Always photograph maker's marks/signatures (critical for AI identification)
  - Don't hide damage—accurate condition assessment is important for value
  - Use Detail photos to show unique features or pattern details
Use AI Appraisal (Recommended):
- After uploading photos, tap "Request AI Appraisal" button
- Claude AI will examine your photos and suggest: name, manufacturer, era, materials, and estimated value
- Note: Category is NOT auto-filled—you'll need to select it manually from the dropdown
- Review the AI's suggestions carefully—it's usually accurate but not perfect!
- Edit any incorrect information before saving
Fill in Item Details:
- Name: Item name or description (e.g., "Victorian Rose Butter Dish")
- Manufacturer: Brand or maker (tap to see educational info)
- Category: Type of item (Silver, Glassware, China, etc.)
- Era: Time period (Victorian, Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, etc.)
- Materials: What it's made of (silver-plated, pressed glass, porcelain, etc.)
- Colors: Select all applicable colors (used for analytics charts). Click the color chips to select preset colors, or click the 🎨 Custom Color option to use the color picker and choose any custom shade you need!
- Purchase Price: What you paid for it
- Current Value: What it's worth now (AI estimated or your research)
- Resale Price: What you plan to sell it for
- Where Acquired: Store, estate sale, online, inherited, etc. (Pro tip: The app remembers your past locations and shows them in a dropdown for quick selection!)
- Purchase Date: When you acquired the item (tap the calendar icon to select a date)
- Notes: Additional details, history, condition notes, provenance
Set Status:
- Inventory: You currently own this item (default)
- Wishlist: You're searching for this item (set priority: Low/Medium/High)
- Sold: You've already sold this item
Rate Your Item (Optional):
- Beauty: Visual appeal and aesthetic quality (0-10 scale). Consider design, craftsmanship, colors, and overall attractiveness. A stunning hand-painted vase might be 9-10, while a plain functional item might be 3-5.
- Rarity: How difficult this item is to find (0-10 scale). Common mass-produced items are 1-3, limited editions are 5-7, and truly unique or one-of-a-kind pieces are 8-10.
- Sentimental Value: Personal emotional attachment (0-10 scale). Inherited family heirlooms or gifts from loved ones might be 9-10, while items purchased purely for resale might be 1-2.
- Investment Potential: Likelihood of increasing in value over time (0-10 scale). Items from sought-after makers, complete sets, or historically significant pieces might be 8-10, while trendy items that may depreciate might be 2-4.
💡 These ratings help you understand your collection beyond just monetary value. Use them to filter and prioritize items in Analytics!
Mark as Favorite (Optional): Tap the star icon to mark special items
Save: Tap "Save Item" at the bottom

Editing an Existing Item:

Tap on any item card from the Home screen
Item detail view opens with all photos and information
Tap the More Options (⋯) button in the top right corner
Select "✏️ Edit Item" from the dropdown menu
Make your changes and tap "Save Item"

💡 Pro Tip: You can edit photos even after saving an item! Just open the item, tap Edit, then use the "×" button on any photo thumbnail to remove it, or tap "Add Photos" to add new ones. Changes are saved when you tap "Save Item".

Add to Wishlist: Set item status to "Wishlist" when adding new items
Priority Levels: Mark items as Low, Medium, or High priority
Find Set Pieces: Use "Find Set Pieces" to search Google Images for missing pieces
Convert to Inventory: Edit item and change status to "Inventory" when found
Notes: Add wishlist notes with specific details about what you're looking for

Many collectibles come in matching patterns or sets (e.g., "Victorian Rose" china pattern, "Royal Crown Derby" tea set, "Anchor Hocking" glassware collection). The app helps you track:

Which pieces you own in each pattern
How complete your set is (e.g., "3 of 12 pieces")
Which pieces you're still searching for
Visual recommendations via Google Images to help identify missing pieces

How to Create a Set:

Open any item → Tap More Options (⋯) → Select "Manage Sets"
Tap "+ Create New Set"
Enter Set Details:
- Set Name: Pattern or collection name (e.g., "Victorian Rose", "Royal Crown Derby Imari")
- Manufacturer (Optional): Brand that made the set
- Total Pieces: How many pieces exist in the complete set (e.g., 12, 24, 48)
- Description (Optional): Notes about the set, pattern number, color variations, etc.
Tap "Create Set"

How to Assign Items to a Set:

Method 1: From Item Detail View (Recommended)

Tap on any item card to open its detail view
Tap the More Options (⋯) button in the top right corner
Select "📦 Assign to Set" from the dropdown menu
Choose which set this item belongs to from the list
The item is now tracked as part of that set!

Method 2: During Item Creation

When adding a new item, scroll down to the "Set Information" section
Enter the pattern/set name in the "Set/Pattern Name" field
If the set doesn't exist yet, create it first using More Options (⋯) → Manage Sets

How to Find Missing Set Pieces (Google Images):

This is the powerful new feature you asked about!

Tap on any item that belongs to a set (e.g., a "Victorian Rose" teacup)
Tap the More Options (⋯) button in the top right corner
Select "🗺️ Find Set Pieces" from the dropdown menu
The app searches Google Custom Search API for images of the set/pattern
You'll see a grid of images showing other pieces from the same pattern
Tap any image to:

"Add to Wishlist" - Adds a new wishlist item with this photo
"View Source" - Opens the website where the image was found (great for finding sellers!)

This helps you identify which pieces you're missing and where to find them!

Viewing Set Progress:

Open any item → More Options (⋯) → "Manage Sets"
View all your sets in the Set Completion Tracker modal
Each set shows:
- Set name and manufacturer
- Progress bar (e.g., "3 of 12 pieces - 25% complete")
- List of items you own in this set
Tap a set to:
- Edit Set: Change name, total pieces, or description
- Delete Set: Remove the set (items remain, just unlinked)

Set Completion Tips:

Use "Find Set Pieces" often: Run it whenever you get a new set piece to see what else exists
Add missing pieces to wishlist: When you see a piece you need, add it directly from the Google Images results
Track rare pieces: Note which pieces are hardest to find in the set description
Update total pieces: If you discover the set has more pieces than you thought, edit the set's total
Group by manufacturer: Create separate sets for different manufacturers even if pattern names are similar

Example Use Case:

You own 3 pieces of "Anchor Hocking Star of David" pressed glass (a bowl, a plate, and a candlestick). You know the complete set has 12 pieces.

Create a set: "Anchor Hocking Star of David" with 12 total pieces
Assign your 3 items to this set using the More Options menu
Set tracker shows "3 of 12 pieces - 25% complete"
Tap one of your items → More Options → "Find Set Pieces"
Browse Google Images of other Star of David pieces (butter dish, pitcher, cups, etc.)
Add the butter dish to your wishlist directly from the results
Visit estate sales/eBay searching for the missing 9 pieces
When you find the butter dish, edit the wishlist item and change status to "Inventory"
Assign it to the set → Now shows "4 of 12 pieces - 33% complete"!
